SVINGENDE SKYGGER
Music for stage, Trøndelag Teater (2023)

Svingende skygger is inspired by mediumistic fin-de-siecle sessions, where creating a light atmosphere through jokes and songs, makes way for spirits to communicate through the stage actors. Meanwhile, the earth is trying to eat them. In the stage piece, director Lisa Lie and the ensemble are trying to exhort things from in between different lives, between the living and the dead, and the horrifying and the comic.

With her new perfomance, Lie and her ensemble show how the spirit world and the theatrical meets in both whimsical and slightly fantastic ways

The newly composed music by Ingvild Langgård plays an important role. It is both a persistent sound design making the performance more complete, as well as songs that are at least as genre transcending as the show itself. It peaks with a gorgeous arie towards the end, beautifully performed by Anna Ladegård

Too much of everything, and we wanted more.

Besides magical tricks, there are a lot of slapstick and humoristic timing in Svingende skygger, much of which is genuinely funny
